Cycle / What may vary

A cycle is not four equal boxes.

Your cycle is counted from the first day of one period to the first day of the next.

01

Two processes overlap

The ovaries and the lining of the uterus change during the cycle. Menstruation occurs at the start of the follicular phase—not before it as a separate, non-overlapping phase.

02

Ovulation is not always day 14

Ovulation timing varies between people and cycles. The luteal phase follows ovulation. Calendar dates cannot guarantee ovulation or provide contraceptive advice.

03

Patterns, not promises

Cycles can vary, especially in the first years and during transitions. Notice changes and their effect on daily life. Ask a GP about symptoms that worry you.
